Canada’s Two Major Railways Still Struggling to Meet Grain Delivery Requests: Ag Transport Coalition

CN and CPKC Rail supplied a combined 56% of hopper cars ordered in grain week 32, representing a slight decline from the 58% order fulfillment performance seen in week 31.

The railways still have been unable to fulfill more than 58% of shipper orders over the last seven weeks.

That’s according to the Ag Transport Coalition.

In supplying 56% of cars ordered by shippers in week 32, CN performance declined from the 67% order fulfillment performance seen the prior week, having now declined for two consecutive weeks.

CN performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a thirty-fourth straight week.

CPKC saw performance improve once again, with the railway supplying 56% of shipper orders in week 32 as compared to the 45% order fulfillment performance seen the prior week.

This represents CPKC’s best performance over the last nine weeks.

CPKC performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a sixteenth consecutive week.
