Improvement in Grain Deliveries by Canada’s Two Major Railways in Week 30: Ag Transport Coalition

CN and CPKC Rail supplied a combined 57% of hopper cars ordered in grain week 30, a notable improvement from the 31% order fulfillment performance seen in week 29.

That’s according to the Ag Transport Coalition.

Despite the improvement, the railways still have been unable to fulfill more than 58% of shipper orders over the last five weeks.

In supplying 70% of cars ordered by shippers in week 30, CN performance more than doubled from the 30% order fulfillment performance seen the prior week.

CN performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a thirty-second straight week.

CPKC saw performance improve modestly, with the railway supplying 39% of shipper orders in week 30 as compared to the 33% order fulfillment performance seen the prior week.

CPKC has now failed to supply more than 55% of cars ordered by shippers for seven consecutive weeks and has not reached the 50% threshold for four consecutive weeks.

CPKC performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a fourteenth consecutive week.
