Canada’s Major Railways Continue to Struggle to Meet Grain Delivery Demand: Ag Transport Coalition

CN and CPKC Rail supplied a combined 59% of hopper cars ordered in grain week 26, a decline from the 65% order fulfillment performance seen in week 25.

They’ve now supplied 70% or less of shipper orders in eight of the last nine weeks.

That’s according to the Ag Transport Coalition.

In supplying 63% of cars ordered by shippers in week 26, CN performance declined from the 74% order fulfillment performance seen the prior week.

CN performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a twenty-eighth straight week.

Negligible improvement once again, in CPKC performance with the railway supplying 55% of shipper orders in week 26 as compared to the 54% order fulfillment performance seen the prior week.

CPKC has now failed to supply more than 55% of cars ordered by shippers for three consecutive weeks.

CPKC performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a tenth straight week.
