Scholarships were handed out on Sunday at the Prairieland Youth Leadership Conference, also known as YouLead.
4-H members from across the province cultivated their leadership skills in a fun mix of social, interactive and competitive activities. The top five received post-secondary scholarships.
First place and a $4,500 post-secondary scholarship was presented to Hanna Hougham with the Hillmond Multiple 4-H Club, about half an hour northeast of Lloydminster. Hanna is in Grade 11 and President of her local club. She says she is planning to enroll in the Agribusiness program at the University of Saskatchewan after she graduates from high school.
Second place and a $3,000 scholarship went to Harper Doige from Aberdeen, who is with the Next-Step 4-H Club. Another member of the Next-Step 4-H Club, Aiva Bieber from Wolesley place third for a $2,500 scholarship. Scholarships of $1,000 were also presented to the fourth and fifth place finishers: Keaten Osicki from Battleford, a a member of the Eagle Hills Multiple 4-H club and to Mya Bieber from Wolsely with the Candiac 4-H Beef Club.
