Cow-calf producers in West-Central Saskatchewan are invited by the Ministry of Agriculture to attend meetings in Delisle Tuesday night and in Beechy Wednesday night.
There will be three speakers at each location. According to the Ag Ministry website, the meeting in Delisle is dedicated to “advancing livestock production system efficiencies starting with Dr. Cheryl Waldner providing an overview of the Canadian cow-calf surveillance project, with an emphasis on the trace mineral and vitamin status. Catherine Seidle will identify how the inclusion of water in a total mixed ration impacts intake, reduces sorting and resulting animal performance. Lynnae Ylioja will share the effectiveness of virtual fencing in Saskatchewan, relaying the outcomes from a recently conducted ADO.”
The meeting in Delisle is from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Delisle Town Hall.
How to make livestock production systems more efficient will be the theme again at the Beechy meeting but from a different angle. The Ministry says, “Catherine Seidle will identify how the inclusion of water to a total mixed ration impacts intake, reduces sorting and resulting animal performance. Lynnae Ylioja will share the effectiveness of virtual fencing in Saskatchewan, relaying the outcomes from a recently conducted ADOPT project. Keanna Boere will discuss the benefits of cross fencing, tips for effective winter site management and be available to answer related funding quest.”
The meeting in Beechy runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. from its Community Centre.
