Tisdale-based Bruce Schapansky Auctioneers has been acquired by Fargo, North Dakota-based Steffes Auctioneers.
The announcement was made Friday morning.
Both Schapansky Auctioneers and Steffes deal with farmland, farm equipment, and farm real estate. Starting in 1960, Steffes has locations in North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, and now in Canada. Schapansky Auctioneers primarily operates in northeast Saskatchewan.
Owner Bruce Schapansky says after 36 years in the business, him and his wife felt it was the right time to sell. “We were looking for a certain brand of auction company and we found Steffes Auctioneers and they’re wanting to come to Canada,” said Schapansky. “They’re some great people with great marketing programs and we’re very excited to join with them.”
Schapansky, who indicated he will continue to work for another three years, says there won’t be any changes to how they do business. “Everything stays the same but with better marketing, more technology,” he added. Operations will continue while undergoing a rebrand to become Steffes, says a news release on the Steffes Auctioneers website.
“Bruce has built a strong reputation in Saskatchewan with his seller-focused approach to auctioneering,” said Scott Steffes, President of Steffes Group. “He values customer relationships as much as we do, which makes this such a great pairing. For his existing customers, the transition will be seamless, and we look forward to building upon what he started by delivering our comprehensive platform of auction experiences.”
